New Study Finds that Brain Injuries in Middle Age May Raise Your Risk of Dementia


What causes traumatic brain injuries?

A new study suggests that middle aged adults should take care to protect their heads from trauma.  Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) are believed to be the cause of over 2.5 million emergency room visits per year and 282,000 hospitalizations nationwide, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Traumatic brain injuries are defined as blows or bumps to the head that cause damage to the brain.  TBIs can have many causes and are often linked to accidents.

A horrific crash between a tour bus and a tractor-trailer left 33 people injured on the New Jersey Turnpike.  The accident happened at 12:30 a.m. on a Friday in West Deptford, New Jersey.  The accident involved a Panda tour bus with 50 people on board.

Fatal Work Injuries On the Rise in New Jersey


What causes fatal work injuries in New Jersey?

A recent report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reveals that fatal work injuries are on the rise in New Jersey.  In March of 2015, fatal work injuries totaled nearly 100 in the state, a ten percent increase from the previous year.  A similar trend was revealed nationwide, with 4,836 fatal occupational injuries recorded in 2015, up from 4,821 in 2014.
